Paradise on Earth - Oxford Liedertafel with James Bowman and Colin Dexter
![]() | ||
Leading countertenor James Bowman accompanied by lutenist Dorothy Linell and Colin Dexter join the Oxford Liedertafel for their debut recording of some of their favourite songs (19 tracks), familiar to those who have attended their regular concerts in Oxford. Paradise On Earth features mostly secular music from the Golden Age of English music alongside relatively neglected music from Georgian, Edwardian and Victorian England. The programme has been arranged, loosely, as a sequence starting in the morning and ending with Colin Dexter reading How clear, how lovely bright by A. E. Housman. “I have had the great pleasure of taking part in a good many performances given by Oxford’s own Liedertaefel (not a singing part!) under the aegis of Duncan Saunderson … I was deeply impressed by the huge natural talent their singing displayed, and their obvious love of the works they continually learned, practised, and performed with such brilliance. No wonder it is that so many are so enviously impressed.” (Colin Dexter) RRP £10.00 discounted to £9.00 incl. P&P.
