The Morse Code

As with the cases of Sherlock Holmes, a 4-letter code has been assigned to the various Colin Dexter stories and television adaptations in the attempt to save having to write titles out in full every time they appear in text. Those given below should by no means be regarded as the definitive version and any comments would be most welcome from members. As will be seen, in general the first 4 letters of a title are used, ignoring ‘the’ and the words ‘dead of’, ‘death of’ and ‘last’ which appear multiple times in the titles.
