Lawrence Bragg, one of the most succesful scientists of all time, was born 100 years ago. Nobel Laureate son of a Nobel Laureate father, he was a founder of the science of X-ray crystallography whose influence stretches from molecular biology to materials science. Sir David Phillip's bibliographic memoir, originally written for the Royal Society places Bragg's work in perspective. And finally we enter, in a way, Bragg's own laboratory by looking at the facsimile reproductions of some of the most important papers Bragg had written. The Legacy of Sir Lawrence Bragg is edited by Professor John Thomas, FRS, the current Director of the Royal Institution and Professor Sir David Phillips, FRS, formerly of Oxford University.
